What is a Certified Financial Planner TM
A CFP is a professional designation awarded to financial advisors who have met certain requirements including:
Education
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university
- Completed coursework through the CFP Board Registered Program
Exam
- Pased the CFP® exam, which is a 170-question, multiple-choice test that consists of two 3-hour sessions over one day
Experience
- Complete either 6,000 hours of professional experience related to the financial planning process, or 4,000 hours of apprenticeship experience that meets additional requirements
Ethics
- Sign the Ethics Declaration where you've agreed to adhere to high ethical and professional standards.
